One of the world’ top figure skaters, Turin Olympics silver medalist and two-times world champion 25-year old Swiss Stephane Lambiel has paid a visit to Almaty and Astana on the invitation of Kazakhstan’s figure skater Denis Ten.

While in the capital city, the skaters spent two days on ice working on Denis’ new programme and walked around the city. While in Almaty, Stephane Lambiel met with figure skating lovers, signed autographs for his fans and enjoyed a show that was presented to him by young figure skaters from Kazakhstan. After a request from skaters and coaches, the two-times world champion went on ice and demonstrated his trademark performance. Denis Ten and Stephane Lambiel made friends at one of the shows held this year. The Swiss figure skater is eight years older than Kazakhstan’s athlete. Looking at Denis’ success he commented on it further.
Figure skater Stephane Lambiel said that he was just like Denis when he was younger and that he had wanted to turn his performances into a show. He had wanted to be a figure skater and to entertain people. He mentioned that you have to show what you have inside you. Regarding Denis, he could can see some similar features and the way he treated them when he was on the ice. He caught every look that people had given him. Stephane said that he hoped that next year, Denis would be more successful and that he would become a champion, simply because he deserves it.”
A busy schedule did not allow Stephane Lambiel to visit the Almaty Mountains which he had wanted very much. The Swiss figure skater liked Kazakhstan in general. The guest promised that he and his friends would visit Kazakhstan in the near future.

June 15, 2010Takahashi and Lambiel Start Choreography
We all know by now that two-time World Champion Stephane Lambiel is choreographing a new short program for current World Champion Daisuke Takahashi. They have started work on this program, and while I am not going to reveal the actual title of the music (or at least the piece that has been choreographed so far), I can tell you that it is from a famous classical score composed during the romantic period, and it hasn't been used too much within skating. I hear that the footwork sequences are looking to be amazing. More small news throughout the week, but I am going to let Takahashi decide when he wants to announce his music.

Next season, Denis Ten, 17, and Daisuke Takahashi, 24, third Olympics in Vancouver and world champion in Turin this year, will skate their short program choreographed by Stéphane Lambiel. Both skaters, fans of the Valais, the artist and dancer, had hoped this collaboration.

"Now, I wear several hats," said Lambiel. "Denis and Daisuke - the latter is currently working in Zurich for its program - are very receptive. This is great for me is to find the right path by taking into account their personality, their physical systems and their ideas. My desire has immediately been great to get involved in these projects. "
In a few days, Stephane Lambiel will fly to Japan for galas.

TONY WHEELER HAS MORE EXCITING INFO ABOUT THE STEPHANE & DAISHA FIERCE COLLABORATION!

Daisuke Had So Much Fun With Stephane That...

While in Switzerland, Daisuke Takahashi completed work on his short program with Stephane Lambiel so quick that they worked on a second program. While I hear that the step sequences in particular make it seem like this might be another option for a short program, it may turn out to be a possible exhibition number. Not meaning to play the "name that tune" guessing game again as I did with the first program they created, I can tell you that this program is a modern movie score that has had quite some popularity in skating since its release, and it is actually one of my absolute favorites. If I had to choose between the two programs solely based just on the music, I'd probably lean towards Daisuke competing with this one. I am sure, however, that both programs will be great and it will be the start of a very successful career for Stephane "behind the scenes" of skating.

On June 18th, Takahashi was added to the cast of the Japanese exhibition show Dreams on Ice, while Lambiel has been listed in the cast for some time. It may be possible to see one of these newly choreographed programs at the show, which takes place the 25th through 27th.

TWO WORLD CHAMPIONS, TOGETHER

Ice Skating: Stephane Lambiel works with Daisuke Takahashi in Duebendorf

Caption: Daisuke Takahashi works on his new choreography in Duebendorf while being watched by Stephane Lambiel

Stephane Lambiel recently starting working as a choreographer on the ice. Among his students is Daisuke Takahashi, the current World Champion---in the Eishalle in Duebendorf.

------

More than a few ice skaters were amazed this week, as they went to training in the ice rink in Duebendorf – unexpectedly, two world stars are training here too. The current, Japanese World Champion, Daisuke Takahashi stayed for a week with a small delegation in Glattal. The goal of his visit was the preparation of a new program for the coming season. The 24-year-old made an agreement with the two-time Swiss World Champion Stephane Lambiel (25), to pull Stephane from Valais to be a choreographer for his new short program.

Lambiel, as the skater who made the strongest impression in the last few years, feels good about the new role, which seems cut out for him. “At a tour in Japan this spring, Daisuke and I had the idea, that I should make a short program for him,” explained Lambiel.

A Possible Choreography Career

“I was recently in Kazakhstan and I rehearsed a program with Denis Ten. Right now, I can’t work with any more students. I have too many appointments. But in the future, a career as a choreographer is in the realm of possibility,” Stephane Lambiel gives away.

His attitude towards his new job is typical for the nine-time Swiss Champion: “I’m not doing this for the money. For me, passion has to be there. Otherwise it would not work.”

No Competitions, but Training

In contradiction to the widely-reported news that Stephane Lambiel has retired from ice skating, there needs to be a correction: “I haven’t given a reason for stepping back. I have only said that next season I’m not going to be at Euros in Bern and won’t be competing in other competions.” In fact, that he is not currently eligible for competition is actually due to a special reason: “I’m not taking part in the doping program now. That would also be difficult/complicated, [because] I am always traveling.”

But Lambiel remains in training. “Until May, I was still training jumps. Then I took a break from jumping. Soon, I will take up that training again.”

Basically, it looks like indeed no comeback to competition for Lambiel. One knows, however, that the West-Swiss man is always good for a surprise.

Morand tries as a single skater

The young Anaïs Morand wants to compete next season, despite the resignation of her partner Antoine Dorsaz.

Following the resignation of pairs skating partner Antoine Dorsaz, Anaïs Morand will try competing next season as an individual skater. At the same time, the 17-year-old of Valais is examining whether it makes sense to compete in the future with Estonian Ilja Glebov (22).

Morand has therefore also decided to take this step because she would not be able to compete in 2010/2011 with Glebov, as they both participated in the Olympic Games in Vancouver and have different nationalities. She is training for her "single carreer" in Switzerland, and will have two programs designed by Paul Sonderegger, Salome Brunner and Stéphane Lambiel. In December, she will take part in the Swiss national championships. There she strives for a medal in order to be recommended for international competitions.

Despite this, there may still be a Swiss pair in the coming season. The former elite skater Timothy Leemann (19/Küsnacht) has completed a successful trial in Chemnitz with the Russian woman Daria Popova (16). "Both understand each other perfectly," said world champion coach Ingo Steuer. "Tim has a passion for pair skating, and a talent as I have rarely seen."

Un te raksts par Stefana Kazahstānas apciemojumu un atkal - tāds bilžuks ar Denisu. hihihi. Stefans ir nepārprotami touchy-feely

Stephane Lambiel visited Kazakhstan

It's an article about it from a local newspaper (all hail google translate, but I've tried to make it more or less readable).

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs332.snc3/29224_1451957908602_1522906937_31124046_703408_n.jpg

Astana and Almaty, using diplomatic language clichés, was visited by one of the best skaters of the last decade, the Swiss Stéphane Lambiel. Two-time world champion, Olympic silver medalist for a few days spent in our country felt the charm of fanboying Kazakh style and has participated in unplanned presentation. The correspondent of "Megapolis",  communicated with the  athlete, who is  considered a cult in his homeland, and became convinced that the star status and ease of communication is not always located on different poles of the everyday’s life.

"And, ahhh, Stefan! Kam on pliz autograph! "- squees a  tiny girl in a wonderful outfit  who is already well warmed up on the rink. The  Swiss skater with astonishment is  looking at the child, apparently marveled at the mysterious child's organism, who’s  such a brittle body,  could extract such heart-rending sounds, and once again signed a hastily shoved paper. He had grown accustomed.

Stephane Lambiel was in Kazakhstan suddenly. Originating in the winter, and the expression "like snow on  the head" (out of blue) could be applied perfectly. But ... in February, the Swiss tried to win another medal at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, March, April and May held by participating in various ice shows, and went on vacation until June. By the time he befriended the lead Kazakhstan's skater -  Denis Ten and unexpectedly agreed to his invitation to visit Astana and Almaty.

The capital was still quiet. Covered arena, good ice, minimal  attention, he  still needed to relax!

- We went to the city and talked with Denis, that here we would like to live -  Lambiel was handing out compliments  to Astana. - But when we went for an  evening stroll, Ten was bitten by mosquitoes. Somehow I escaped this fate, but Denis seriously "got haermed"

If in Astana, the presence of Stephen passed almost unnoticed, in Almaty, everything turned out quite differently. Skaters were  unexpectedly found by fans  in the airport, and they  began to demand "to share a star”. To sum it up: unscheduled autograph session on the ice of one of mall south to the capital.

Stephane Lambiel long and firmly integrated into the international figure skating, and  for the last five years it has been  absolutely impossible to imagine any more or less serious competition without his participation. He is loved by audiences and respected by  judges. It’s like one  joke on the Internet, caused by the arbitration irrational generosity . "Judges know that in the other world they’ll  be held accountable for poor ratings for  Stephane. If Plushenko (I C U, bitches) - the phenomenon of jumping, then Lambiel - a cultural phenomenon. "

... He still skated  on a tiny, tiny ice of mall’s rink and not more than for  a minute performed his  magic spins. At this  time few admiring spectators were hurting their hands with clapping. Then young  skaters, along with their  parents began to attack the athlete.

Photo. Autographs. Again, photos, and another portion of autographs. Smiles. Lights flash and the rustling of pens. Regular, every second repeated attempts to grab an athlete for any suitable part of the body. Stephen, naturally, did not know, but all this madness bolelschitskoe described more Vysotsky. Where a "champion clay pigeon shooting" frustrated sweater otgryzli instantly watch and plates were stolen straight from the runway. "

Lambiel by word or gesture to express his dissatisfaction, and only when he managed to escape into the open air, to  a small and friendly park, he was transformed.

Repeatedly expressing at least fifty compliments Denis Ten: "I very much hope that next year he will achieve greater success than I had, he will be a champion, as he deserves" - also Lambiel spoke  about himself. Describing all the delights of skating, he effectively used the word «passion». Passion. "I love this sport very much. This is my life, you understand I did not expect that in Kazakhstan I have so many fans. It's worth years of work, isn't it?"

He did not change when the interview ended, and before leaving a little time and it should pass with journalists. Stephen is not closed, not inflated self-righteous champion toad (which necessarily would make five out of ten of our sports stars!), And continues to communicate, as before.

- What do I think about your kitchen? Look at me! It seems that a few days I added a dozen pounds. We ate a very tasty dish "besch-pairs-max", but it is very, very nutritious.

- Will I root for Team Switzerland at the World Cup? Of course! But much stronger than I worry about tennis player Roger Federer. It is not only a brilliant athlete, but also an amazing  person.

- And, by the way, where do you have yurts? I just had read that in Kazakhstan, they have yurts. But neither in Almaty, Astana, nor I saw them ...

He eagerly talks about  culinary and sport life topics. But he changes, when it again comes to figure skating.

- People ask me what I'll do next. I’m going to  work with skaters, make programs for many of them. I’m going to participate in ice shows, continuing to go on the ice. I can not throw all this away. Figure skating  is - my life.

INTERVIEW (AND PHOTOS) WITH STÉPHANE AND DAISUKE!
THERE IS A NEW JOINT INTERVIEW WITH DAISUKE AND STÉPHANE ON ABSOLUTE SKATING!

DREAM TEAM

http://www.absoluteskating.com/interviews/2010takahashilambiel/P1030566a.jpg

By Céline Oreiller

Fascinating. Watching two World Champions work together is fascinating, especially when both of them are incredibly talented artists on the ice. When the moves suggested by Stéphane Lambiel are performed by Daisuke Takahashi, the result is nothing short of beautiful – a blend of freedom and control, of spontaneity and smoothness. And if the announcement of their collaboration took everyone by surprise, when you actually see them at work, it looks like it was always meant to be.

How did you two get to work together?

Stéphane: When I was in Japan for some exhibitions in April, I told Daisuke that I would help him if he needed me. So he thought about it, and then we organized his trip to Switzerland to create a new short program.

Who chose the music?

Daisuke: Stéphane did.

Stéphane: Yes, I picked two pieces of music and asked Daisuke which one he wanted to skate to. He liked both, so in the end we chose the one that was more different from what he had already done, more original… Daisuke learns very quickly and we actually finished the short program in just two days. So we decided to create an exhibition program with the other piece of music.

Considering how close you two have been in many competitions over the past few years, including at the Olympics just four months ago, nobody expected you to work together.

Stéphane: I never considered Daisuke to be a rival, there was absolutely no rivalry with him. I never thought “oh, I’m ahead of him” or “oh, I’m behind him”. All that mattered were my own performances, not where we placed.

I saw you practice together, mirroring each other, and it was captivating, because you look very alike on the ice…

Stéphane: …until we start spinning, right?! (laughs) But I’m also helping him with the spins, they’re already getting better. Spins aren’t easy. They require finding the right balance between flexibility and strength. You have to let your body go and then lock it in the correct position. And of course you might be a bit dizzy at the end of a spin, but you still have to go straight into the next element.

The conversation then drifted to combination and camel spins, and eventually to jumps. Daisuke wished he could land the quad toeloop as easily as Stéphane, who in turn explained his struggles with the triple axel and how his injury prevented him from practicing it this past year.

Daisuke, when you returned to Japan after the World Championships in March, the whole country was crazy about figure skating – you and Mao Asada were everywhere! Have things slowed down now? What have you been doing in the last few weeks?

Daisuke: Yes, we had to do many exhibitions and TV shows, but I also got to take holidays. I went to Hawaii, which was great. And now I’ve already created a new free program with Pasquale Camerlengo, and these two programs with Stéphane. This summer, in between shows in Japan, I will also work on another short program with Shae-Lynn Bourne.

Why two short programs, and how will you decide which one to skate in competitions?

Daisuke: I don’t know how long I will keep skating and I want to try as many different things as possible. I really admire Shae-Lynn, Stéphane and Pasquale, I like their style and it’s nice to work with them. I don’t know yet which short program I will use, I hope both of them. Maybe I’ll change for each competition.

And how is your knee now?

Daisuke: It’s fine, back to normal. But I’ll have to have another surgery after the World Championships next year, because there’s still a screw in it.

Last year, you had problems with your skates throughout the season. Have you finally found a pair that fits?

Daisuke: I hope so. I just went to the Graf factory here in Switzerland and explained exactly what was wrong. I think we found the solution. So I hope it will go well and if not, I know that I can always come back here.

Yes, Daisuke, you’ll always be welcome in Switzerland!

But for now, let’s just wish both Stéphane and Daisuke all the very, very best for the coming months and a great time at this week’s “Dreams on Ice” shows in Japan, where Daisuke might perform his new exhibition program. Watch out for videos to pop up on the internet soon!
