First feelings as a choreographer!
Yokohama, Japan | June 25, 2010

Bonsoir mes ami(e)s,

it’s a great pleasure to tell you how happy and excited I am about today’s show! First of all I could show my “Let the Good Times Roll” program to the wonderful Japanese audience; thank you for your warm welcome, I really enjoyed it!!!
Then, I felt high heartbeats for my friend Daisuke, considering he showed the exhibition program I just choreographed for him a week ago… you can’t imagine how nervous I was! I could tell he was nervous, too, and even though I know this program is going to improve a lot, I was already touched and proud of him. Merci Daisuke!

I would like to use this opportunity to thank both of my friends that I worked with during the last weeks for their trust! Merci Denis, merci Daisuke!

I wish them to be as successful as they deserve for the upcoming season!

That’s it, going to bed!
By the way, LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL and HOPP SCHWIIZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!

xoxo

Steph

ne pa tēmu, bet gribējās to izklāstīt.

es šonakt redzēju sapni...
vispirms ierados kautkāda pasākumā kur notiek svarīga uzņemšana - izrādās Latvijā ieradies Stefans Lambiels...... :flag:

tālāk man bij jāierodas pie zobārsta un ko es redzu ieejot kabinetā? - pretī smaidot mani uzņem Dr Stefans Lambiels.........  o.O es automātiski sāku runāt ar viņu angliski, bet viņš man atbild latviski. Sapņa turpinājumā es gan viņu laikam ar kko sadusmoju......:)

You might remember him mentioning this on the radio interview in May - At the end of last week Stephane visited the SOS Children village in Ben Tre in Vietnam.  Steph spent time playing with the children, and showed them some basic skating moves. He was travelling as part of the Swiss delegation which is raising funds for the charity, and the images and recordings from the trip will be used as part of their campaign

vēl par to, kā Stefs Daisu horeografēja. Smuki gifi un citāti

Stephane Lambiel (25), the silver medalist at the 2006 Turin Olympics & the fourth place winner at this year's Vancouver Olympics, makes his debut as a choreographer this season. His first work is with the bronze medalist at the Vancouver Olympics, Daisuke Takahashi (24). Lambiel made the first approach and this superb collaboration became a reality.

There are many great programs in Lambiel's repertoire, such as his Turin FS "The Four Seasons", his Vancouver SP "William Tell" and FS "La Traviata", which gained him the reputation as an "artist on ice."

All of these programs were collaborations with his trusted choreographer.
"My choreographer expanded my ideas and stimulated me so that my range of expression broadened."

There were not so many cases that skaters who competed at the world level also flourished as choreographers, but his ambition to become one grew stronger. Now it was his turn to stimulate the skaters.

This year in April, in the dressing room at a skating show in Osaka, Lambiel told Takahashi that he would be happy to work with him if he needed any help.
Lambiel says that he always admired Takahashi as a skater. "His upper body carriage is fantastic."
The fact that Takahashi was a similar type to himself who was praised for his expressiveness was probably also the reason he chose Takahashi.

Takahashi, who had always listed Lambiel as his favourite skater, said "it is intereting to work with someone I had been competing against. It would be great if I could absorb his moves."
Several weeks after his proposal, Takahashi told him that he was going to Switzerland.

Lambiel, who felt "very excited" to hear his response, chose two pieces of music for Takahashi's SP.
One was from the soundtrack of the movie "Amelie" and the other was an authentic piece of classical music. Takahashi chose the latter.
It was the piece of music Lambiel once tried to skate to himself but had abandoned because it didn't work out for him.

"Daisuke does it in a way I didn't expect him to, but it feels like I had always wanted him to do it that way."
The program was completed in no time so they also worked on "Amelie" for the exhibition in their spare time.

This season Lambiel will also work with Denis Ten, who finished 11th at the Vancouver Olympics.
"The benefit for me was that through them, I was able to make an imprint in my head and on film what I had been doing unconciously."
When he got absorbed in his performance, he moved without thinking. He didn't remember how he danced at all and couldn't re-enact his performance at times.

The collaboration between Lambiel and Takahashi has already made the news overseas.
Will Lambiel stand at the rinkside at competitions?

"Can I take on that burden? It is very important to spend time with your trusted team at competitions.
If he thinks of me as one of those people I will be happy to be there..."

For now, he says it is so much easier to skate than to worry.

a little (or not so little ) report about the training with children in Lausanne...

Like you know pianomaya, stephanie2006 and I went on Friday to Lausanne to see Stéphane train with kids.
After using for the first time a subway in Switzerland (and the only subway in the whole country!) we got to the Malley ice rink.
We were a little early but Stéphane and many kids were already on the ice. I wonder if he was there for the whole afternoon. Shortly after there was a zamboni break. And then other kids came. They divided the rink into three parts and there were also three groups of children. Stéphane was in the middle of the rink, Joannie Rochette and another coach on the right side and another group on the left side. There were'nt many spectators about 20-30 people.

Unfortunately I didn't see much of what Joannie Rochette or the other guy were doing because my focus was logically on Stéphane and his group of children. In the first hour the children were probably between 7-12 or so and in the second hour maybe between 13-18. In between this hour the three groups of kids changed from one coach to the other.
Stéphane showed them some moves and the kids were learning and repeating them. He observed what the kids are doing and helped and explained the moves to them when they weren't successful.

Unfortunately he was speaking so quietly that we couldn't hear what he was saying. The other coaches were almost yelling but the almost only words we could hear from Stéphane were: "Hopp!" Sometimes he was clapping with his hands so that the kids listen to him again or because they were doing great. All in all he was a very patient coach, despite him saying a long time ago he wouldn't have the patience to be a coach. But that was before his injury...

The younger kids seemed to have learned to skate to a certain music. They were skating to this music again and again. And Stéphane had to start, repeat and stop the music and was sometimes skating with them. So we assumed that he invented this little "programm" for them.
It seemed that with Stéphane the kids learned to improve their spins and with Joannie and the other coach they were doing more jumps or spirals. Stéphane had to show his spins again and again.

As I don't skate by myself everything on the ice looks so easily. I know that it's hard work and years of training from a very young age. You could see that this children were learning to do these movements Stéphane showed to them and once more I realized that you have to learn every little step and every little move by doing it again and again. Sure the talent you have or don't have plays a certain role but without hard training it's impossible to reach a certain level.

At around six the training was finished and all the kids were standing on one side to watch Stéphane and Joannie. They were doing some jumps, spins, split jumps and spirals (only Joannie unfortunately). After their little "exhibition" Stéphane skated around with some children, took many pictures and skated three times this little programm to the music with the younger children. It was so funny and cute to watch him there surrounded by children, who were admiring him.

At around half past six the zamboni ended this beautiful afternoon and everybody had to leave the ice. We had the hope that he might return after the zamboni, but only hockey players came and took the ice. So we left for dinner.

I'm so thankful to have had this possibility to watch this. It came out of nowhere (thanks again Reut for finding this information). It was more than two and a half hours of watching Stéphane! The longest I saw him before was 40 minutes for practices at competitions (when he stayed for the whole time).

After the opening of the Bossard Arena in Zug I thought: When will I see him again? At Art on Ice in February? Now I think again: When will I see him again? Maybe there will be another sudden possibility?!
