Rose, who adores her grandparents, is curious to know why Stevie won't mend her long estrangement from them. What did she do that was so bad that she never spoke to her own parents again? When Rose's enquiries are deflected, she snoops around to find something that will fill in the blanks. Caught off guard when Rose discovers a baby's hospital bracelet, Stevie tells a half-truth - she did have a baby, but she adopted it out. Rose is shocked, unable to understand how Stevie could be so callous as to give up her baby.

In desperation, Stevie finally reveals that the child was actually Rose. Devastated by the news, Rose takes off in the ute, accidentally reversing into the cattle yard gates and putting the new embryo transplant program at risk. Finding her on the side of the road Alex shares his own experience of finding out Harry wasn't his real father. But will he convince her to go back to Drovers to face Stevie? Stevie faces an uncertain future with her daughter who seems unable to forgive her.
