Abilities:
First and foremost, Neal Caffrey is a confidence man. Grifter, con artist, trickster. Whatever the name, that's Neal. In fact, he's world-class. He can charm pretty much anyone he meets, without even batting an eye. On INTERPOL's watch list, and hunted by the FBI for years, he was finally caught... Of course, he was only convicted for bond forgery. There's the counterfeiting, securities fraud, art theft, racketeering... and don't forget the priceless map of Vinland he perfectly forged, among other works of art, though his pride led him to sign them all. (He's an expert on all late european post-impressionists.) Stealing Washington’s love letters was just for fun. Neal can also hotwire a car, pickpocket, pick locks, sleight-of-hand, origami, speak Spanish and French (at least), and honestly? The man's a human calculator. (He can count seconds in his head and talk at the same time.)

History:
Was there anything before Kate Moreau? They lived the high life together. Even when they had nothing, their dreams were always bigger than their pockets. All of that would change, though, when Peter Burke finally caught up to him. Neal ran a good chase, but in the end, Peter was too dogged stubborn. The sentence was four years in a super-maximum security prison. To be fair, he served three years and nine months. But with three months left, he suddenly broke out, all in the name of going after Kate. He was caught, again, though that one didn’t really count, and in order to keep his freedom, Neal made a deal with his ex-nemesis. In exchange for his cooperation with the FBI, he was fitted with an ankle monitor (his new leash) instead of serving out another four years in prison. Yet even as the FBI celebrated his capture, Neal began to show them that they would be lost without his insight, charm, and expert knowledge of the criminal underworld. At the same time, he continued his search for Kate…and may continue it throughout New York City if he must.

Personality:
Can anyone contest Neal Caffrey’s charisma? The man exudes a charm and personal magnetism that seems to win him the heart of most anyone he meets. He’s a natural grifter that relishes living in style. Neal is a playful spirit who enjoys flirting with pretty much anyone he meets. To call him a playboy isn’t precisely correct. Neal is technically monogamous. His love for Kate runs deep, and even as he enjoys a dance or three with those he meets, his heart beats only for her. Neal also loves to live a refined existence and his gentlemanly manners show it. He’s intelligent, debonair, and more cultured even than the man that put him in prison. In fact, he’s probably lived twice as richly as Peter, and all by breaking the rules and knowing how to break them in order to get what he wants. Because of this, Neal knows New York City inside and out. The rich, the criminal, and especially the super-models. He has a good head for Gotham as well, though of course, the dark and gothic has never been his style. The one aspect of Neal’s personality that’s the hardest to pin down is his honesty. It’s true, he’s a thief, a con man, and a playboy, but when it comes right down to right and wrong, Neal will break laws, but he doesn’t hurt other people. In fact, he hates guns outright. The real struggle for Neal may be this battle between his two selves; the honest romantic and the fun-loving con.
