When Emilia Duncan (42) was 17, she fell madly in love with Amilcar (45), driver of their family and as the fruit of that love was born Paulina (25). Emilia's father, Don Antonio Duncan, paid Amilcar to disappear from their lives and forced his daughter to marry Gustavo Navarrete (45), a widower with a young daughter Gabriela (27). The marriage of Emilia and Gustavo is a complete disaster though he loves her.
Today 25 years after, Emilia is a woman with dominant and strong personality, a shareholder of several luxury resorts, but her only obsession in life is to become the majority shareholder and have total control over the hotel company of her father. However, Don Antonio in his will, left much of his fortune to Paulina that the day of her marriage will become hers. Emilia hates her daughter, because she feels that she is the reason of her unhappy life and therefore will not allow the young woman find happiness with Rafael (27), modest recent Medical graduate who Paulina meets in Yelapa few days earlier of marriage with Alberto (27), handsome engineer whom Paulina knows since childhood, thanks to the friendship and business partnership for many years of their parents.
Paulina and Rafael live a beautiful love story in Puerto Vallarta, where the economic differences do not seem to matter, however, Emilia, Alberto and Gabriela (who lives envying the fate of Paulina becomes a lover of Alberto) will make every effort to separate them and take away the right on a fortune Paulina should receive.
