"What I love about the relationship is that Marti and Julian have been denying this [attraction] the whole time," she said. "You see them kind of flirt with each other in and out of class and she always tries to maintain responsibility with being the student. She finally just gives into her feelings. It was funny, I was talking about this with Kevin Murphy, our creator, and he was just like, 'We need to do it! It's ridiculous. The fans want to see it. Marti wants it. Julian wants it.' so we ended up just going there and going for it full on."

It seems in most cases, teacher-student hook-ups end in disaster, but Aly said the dynamic between Marti and Julian goes deeper than just a couple of hot people (with an age gap) getting it on.

"There's a lot of heart between Julian and Marti's relationship," she said. "The fact that she's an intelligent girl and a lot more mature than you think she is especially for her age. It makes sense that she would be attracted to an older man like Julian and the fact that she respects him and looks up to him as a mentor."
