JP: Elena was trying to explain to her human friend why she's so emotionally attached to two vampires. that what the scene was about.

Q: okay, okay, I think I get it: she explained him why she is so attached to them even though they are vampires

JP: yes, exactly. Even though 'we' as fans of S/D get it, her human friend has gotta be pretty baffled by it all. He cares about her.
